Salem Chapel Historical Details

Salem Chapel was constructed in 1840 by a group of  Wesleyan Trustees who raised sufficient money around the district to complete the building work.

It operated as a Wesleyan Chapel until 1880 when events caused it to be closed for a period of seven years. It re-opened again in 1887, remaining in continuous use until the 1950's.

After its closure the chapel building was used as a hay barn until the current owners, Bill & Mary Ryan purchased the property in 1996. They soon set about a hugely challenging restoration project.

When you visit Salem Chapel you will be able to see the restoration project photo album. You're sure to be amazed at how the derelict building was restored to its excellent current state of repair.

Press Bill and Mary Ryan to share their knowledge of Salem Chapel's interesting history and some of its little known secrets.
